Cave Description
Access/ Entrance: Polll Gonzo South
Route: Old Dig, Dry Pitch, Marmite Passage, Wet Pitch
Trip Description:
Checked the scaffolding in the old dig - still intact and undamaged but structurally questionable.
Proceeded via dry pitch through block chamber to Marmite passage/ the ringpeice formation (which may have partially collapsed?) TO the head of the wet pitch. Paddy and Tim descended the wet pitch, with thanks to Des for spotting Paddy at the changeovers up and down.
Equipment:
Dry Pitch - 40m rope and x6 Carabiners. Wet Pitch - 20m rope & x6 Carabiners
Highlights:
- Marmite Passage pretties
- Bottoming wet pitch in tanking water
- The 'ringpiece' formation at the end of Marmite Passage may have partially collapsed?
- The split in the wall at the entrance to the block chamber is at 2 inches, possibly spreading?
